LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The Kansas football program is on an upward trajectory under current head coach Lance Leipold, but there is an issue the team needs to solve. Dating back to last season, the Kansas Jayhawks are 1-6 in one-score games – including Saturday’s 37-34 loss to Cincinnati at home.

While the margins of winning Big 12 conference games are razor-thin, Leipold says his team needs to practice better to start to win some one-possession games.

“We’ve got to get to great practice habits and a sense of urgency about doing our job the way it should be,” Leipold told the media on Monday. “There is not a magic potion to this. It’s not something that we haven’t been able to do. We’ve got to be able to have consistency Monday through Friday and be excited for kickoff on Saturday.”
