A grand jury voted not to file charges against state troopers in the custody death of a 38-year-old that was sought in a Warren County shooting in 2024, the state Attorney General’s office said.

New Jersey State Police Dgt. Kyle Bruno and troopers Sarah Heitzenroeder, Justin Watts, Conner McNemar and Connor Krueger were pursuing Armond Anthony Avitable, on Feb. 12, 2024 around 7:50 p.m. after receiving reports of shooting at home in Knowlton, officials said.

Authorities released body-worn camera footage and 911 recordings of the incident earlier this year as part of the AG’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability’s investigation.
