A man was arrested on Monday, two months after police say he struck a van on a Longmont street, causing both passengers to be ejected from the van and suffer serious injuries.

Jose Luis Gonzalez-Bencomo, 21, is facing two counts of vehicular assault and five counts of reckless endangerment in connection with a July 26 crash near the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Emery Street, according to an arrest affidavit.

Gonzalez-Bencomo was released from custody after posting $10,000 bond, according to online court records.

Longmont police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 6:39 p.m. July 26. Gonzalez-Bencomo was driving west in his 2018 black Audi S4 on Ninth Avenue before striking a white 1965 Volkswagen Vanagon that was headed north on Emery Street.
