Jayconomics Inc. and its owner James Domenic Floreani were found guilty of breaching the Alberta Securities Act in April

An online influencer who used to provide financial tips to over 50,000 followers is banned from offering advice for at least two years after a securities commission panel found he failed to disclose conflicts of interest.

James Domenic Floreani was a so-called “finfluencer,” who ran multiple social media accounts that provided investment advice on platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram under the name Jayconomics.

But according to Alberta’s securities watchdog, Floreani promoted four companies to his followers — without disclosing the posts were sponsored by those firms. The companies were Tenet Fintech Group Inc., Gold Mountain Mining Corp., Levitee Labs Inc
