NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The United States Postal Service will not be raising stamp prices in January 2026.

The price of a stamp to send a 1-ounce First-Class Mail letter sits at 78 cents.

“We continually strive to balance our pricing approach both to meet the revenue needs of the Postal Service and to deliver affordable offerings that reflect market conditions,” said Postmaster General David Steiner. “We have therefore decided at this time to forgo a price change for First-Class Mail postage and other market-dominant services until mid-year 2026.”

Prices, however, are expected to temporarily increase for the holiday season. The temporary rates, if approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission, would be in effect from Oct. 5 through January 18, 2026.
