LOUISIANA - Louisiana is currently pursuing a criminal case against a California doctor accused of mailing abortion pills to a patient in the state, according to recent court filings.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the doctor, who allegedly violated Louisiana's abortion ban by providing pills to a Louisiana woman in 2023. The woman reported feeling pressured by her boyfriend to take the pills.

This legal action comes as California Governor Gavin Newsom signed new legislation last Friday. The measure allows doctors to mail abortion drugs without facing legal threats or disciplinary action, aiming to protect healthcare providers and their patients.

It also ensures that drugs like mifepristone remain available even if the FDA revokes it.
