The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating after a man was killed during a deputy-involved shooting over the weekend.
Just before 1 p.m., deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a disturbance about a person trespassing on a vacant property on Stegall Circle in Greenville.

According to SLED, the responding deputy encountered a man in the driveway. During the encounter, the deputy attempted to arrest the man, at which point the man picked up a hammer and then the deputy shot him.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office said the man, 44-year-old Johnny Ray Moore Jr., was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
SLED was requested to investigate by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
