A l ong-awaited GO train station will open in Stoney Creek next month — but don’t hold your breath for a quick relocation of a stinky neighbouring trash-dumping depot.

Tory Premier Doug Ford came to Hamilton Monday to announce the completion of construction of the new train station on Centennial Parkway, which has been serving solely as a GO bus stop since 2019.

Schedule details are still to come, but Metrolinx said the station will begin offering train service Oct. 27, including 13 weekday trips and 15 weekend trips better linking east Hamilton with Niagara and Toronto.

Ford called the station opening “the next step in our plan to get Hamilton even more connected to fast, reliable and affordable transit.”
