DALLAS — In a Dallas Police Academy class, there is no settling.

“When you're comfortable, you don't grow. You’ve got to be comfortable being uncomfortable,” said Alexis Blasquez, DPD Academy Class 408 recruit.

For Blasquez, that drive comes from her foundation.

“I have family in law enforcement and military,” said Blasquez. “I'm one of the younger in my family, so they've always been pushing me to, you know, always do the best.”

Blasquez puts her best on the mat alongside 76 others. They’re DPD’s Academy Class 408, the second largest class in DPD history.

“It is hard. It's very difficult. It's gonna be a long 10 months, but I'm prepared for it,” said Blasquez.

This class also has the second largest number of women, reaching 19.
