BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A high school competition hopes to cultivate the next generation of environmentalists.
“Envirothon” introduces students to a variety of environmental issues, from trees to water to wildlife. Teams of students rotate around a trail, solving problems and answering questions about different environmental topics. The teams’ scores are combined to determine the winners.
“As I’m working with kids throughout the year, we’re noticing they’re not spending as much time outdoors, and that we really create a disconnect between our students and the natural resources. And so Envirothon is really a cool opportunity to bring high school-aged kids out to nature,” said Beth Hill, outreach and education manager for the North Dakota Forest Service.
