FARGO — About the only thing missing from the West Fargo Sheyenne girls golf team’s resume is a state championship.

The Mustangs will be well within reach of that feat when the final round of the North Dakota Class A girls golf tournament tees off Tuesday at Fargo Country Club.

Sheyenne put itself in prime position after Day 1 on Monday, firing a cumulative 5-over 293 for a new school record under blistering conditions with temps reaching the 90s.

The 293 also tied the state record for the lowest team total ever recorded.

Seniors Zoe Keene and Payton Stocker led the Mustangs, each shooting an even-par 72 and are in a tie for fourth individually.
