MADISON, Wis. -- A man accused of murdering a woman on Madison's east side last year pleaded guilty Monday, online court records show.

Terrence Davis, 44, pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide. A charge of possessing a firearm as a person convicted of an out-of-state felony was dismissed but read in.

Davis was arrested in the death of 25-year-old Mikayla Rogers, who was shot near East Washington Ave. at the 1600 block of Schmedeman Ave. in August 2024.

Rogers and Davis were in a relationship at the time of the shooting. Davis turned himself in to police on the morning after the incident, reporting that he had injured someone and they were likely deceased.

A trial in the case was initially scheduled to start this week. Now, a sentencing hearing will be held on Dec. 5.
