Florence reached a high of 103 degrees on July 27. It was tied with Newark, New Jersey, which saw its temperature reach 103 on June 24.

The University of South Carolina campus in Columbia saw temperatures rise to 107 degrees on July 27. It had the highest daytime temperature of the 72 cities selected. Local News
