BOONE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A former Appalachian State admission employee was indicted on four counts of embezzlement last week, court records show.
Court documents allege 26-year-old Florancie Jacques of Cary stole more than $3,400 across four different thefts between September 2022 and April 2025.

Jacques worked as a reviewer and recruiter in the university's Office of Admissions until March, according to her LinkedIn profile.
On Sept. 22, according to court records, a Watauga County grand jury indicted Jacques on four felony counts of embezzlement.
Court records show Jacques was given $50,000 secured bond. Her first appearance in Watauga County Court is scheduled for Oct. 27.
