AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Across the United States, 300 to 400 physicians a year die by suicide. That's according to Dr. Brian Weis, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine regional dean, and he said that over the past 15 years, he personally knows five physicians in the community who died by suicide.
"This is a major challenge. We look at nursing. I look at first responders, major problem on first responders. It is across the whole health care spectrum that we see this issue," said Weis.
