NEW YORK — Red Sox right-handed starter Lucas Giolito has an elbow injury and won’t be on Boston’s AL Wild Card Series roster.

Giolito was expected to start a potential Game 3 against the Yankees. Now the Red Sox will likely turn to either Connelly Early or Kyle Harrison — who have combined for six starts with Boston this year — if the series extends to a third game.

Ace Garrett Crochet will start Game 1 on Tuesday while Brayan Bello, who has a 2.35 career ERA in 11 starts against the Yankees , will pitch Game 2 of this best-of-three series.

“We have some kids that started this week and we’ll see how the first two games go and then we’ll decide, if needed, for Game 3,” manager Alex Cora said at Yankee Stadium on Monday.
