COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A search began last week for two people after police say shots were fired in South Ryegate. Monday night, authorities announced that the pair has been arrested.

Justin French, 36, and Kayla Cabey, 33, both of Bradford, were wanted after an incident on the road along U.S. Route 302. The incident reportedly took place September 20 in South Ryegate. Shots were allegedly fired, and Vermont State Police obtained warrants for French and Cabey on charges including first-degree attempted murder.

According to authorities, French and Cabey were taken into custody in Massachusetts. No further information is available on their arrest at this time.

The incident was originally termed "road rage," but police later said that the shooting "was not a random act of violence
