PEGRAM, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Midstate town is in the spotlight after it was featured in a new Netflix movie.

The number one film on the streaming platform is “Ruth & Boaz.”

It is based on a couple that falls in love in Pegram, which is 20 miles west of Nashville.

While most of the film production took place in Georgia, Cheatham County says the exposure is good.

“We want to bring in film attention and put Cheatham County on the map,” said Josie Richard of Cheatham County Economic Development.

Just over 2,000 people live in Pegram.

Richard says they have had much growth and development.

The state is looking to address that through various incentives, such as offering 25% grants for films shot in Tennessee.
