Electricity costs are set to rise again from tomorrow (October 1) as the energy price cap rises by two per cent. It means households will be paying an average of £1,755 a year for a typical household. ‌

And with winter around the corner and temperatures already dipping as September ends, homes on a standard tariff with average usage are expected to spend £140 on energy in October, an increase from £63 in September. ‌

The £77 increase is down to a combination of higher rates and increased usage as temperatures fall. ‌

But households can enjoy 25 hours of free electricity this November with an offer from Uswitch that could take some of the sting out of the bills.
