A man armed with what turned out to be a BB gun near Santa Monica High School — prompting the school to go on a brief lockdown — has been taken into custody, police said.
Officers responded around 3:20 p.m. near the 600 block of Pico Boulevard to reports regarding an armed suspect, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
The suspect was located and arrested, police said.
An investigation revealed the weapon was a BB gun, and that there was no ongoing threat, the SMPD said.
The school lockdown was subsequently lifted.
