A former Taco Bell manager from Scott Township who was convicted of fatally shooting his employee was granted a new trial and is now filing a double jeopardy motion.

According to court documents and witness testimony in court, Simmons and the victim, Dorian Carver, got into an altercation at work.
When Carver left Taco Bell, Simmons followed him down Cochran Road in Scott Township and into the lobby of an insurance business. That’s where he shot Carver twice, killing him.
