The Palestinian Authority on Monday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s “sincere and determined efforts” to end the war in Gaza. In a statement, it said, “We have affirmed our desire for a modern, democratic, and non-militarized Palestinian state, committed to pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power.”

The Authority committed to implementing reforms, including holding new elections and ending its system of payments to families of Palestinians involved in attacks on Israel, according to the Associated Press.

Trump’s 20-point plan, aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, includes measures for economic development guided by a “panel of experts” and proposes a special tariff zone to support reconstruction and stability.
