LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Lafayette man under investigation for domestic battery died at the hospital six days after his arrest.
Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the reported battery around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 in the 1000 block of South 4th Street.
Investigators determined 36-year-old Lennis Mitchell was in a relationship with the victim in the case. Witnesses told police Mitchell forced his way into the woman's home as she tried to close the back door. He reportedly then shoved the woman out the front door, then dragged her by her hair off the porch and into the yard. Witnesses said he then battered the woman in the yard.
When officers arrived, they saw fleeing the scene. He was found on a nearby porch and was taken into custody with what police described as the "
