CLEVELAND. (WILX) - The Detroit Tigers backed into the playoffs with a 7-17 record in the month of September to finish the season 87-75, securing the last spot in the American League playoffs via a tiebreaker over Houston.

But for all the struggles of September, all that matters now is a best-of-three series in Cleveland against the same Guardians team that stole the AL Central crown from Detroit in the final days of the season.

Detroit won on the road in the Wild Card Series last year over Houston before falling to Cleveland in the AL Division Series.

The winner of the series will advance to the ALDS against Seattle.

All games in the series are set for 1:08 p.m. in Cleveland, played Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (if necessary).
