Young Thug and Gunna have remained distanced since both reached plea deals in the YSL RICO case. The case was a racketeering trial involving Young Thug and his associates from the YSL record label, which prosecutors alleged was a criminal street gang The rapper joined the It's Up There Podcast on Monday, where he explained why he can't have Gunna around him anymore. "I'm not gonna be able to look at him the same, no matter what," he said. "I'm not gonna be able to look at you the way I looked at you before we went to jail. I love you to death. I know you love me. We love each other to death, but we just going our own ways." Gunna reached a plea in December 2022 to secure his release from jail, which saw him admit that YSL was a gang. Thugger remained behind bars until reaching his own plea deal in October 2024, and he hasn't been in contact with his YSL protégé since being released. The Havana singer added: "I know how I felt about you. I know what I did with you and for you. You know all the times we shared." In the future, if Thug and Gunna happen to be in the same place, he suggested fans shouldn't expect a friendly embrace between the former collaborators, but there won't be any disrespect either. "I still want you to eat, just not at my table," Thug summised.
