GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) -- The first-ever fully inclusive playground in Greenville held its grand opening ceremony on Monday.

The new playground is located near the intersection of Woodland Way and Lakehurst Street at Cleveland Park.

The 10,640-square-foot space is the result of an effort led by the Foster family and their eldest daughter, Brooks. Her mother, Reagin Foster, said Brooks was born with a rare condition called Pontine Tegmental Cap Dysplasia.

Reagin explained that Brooks is progressing nicely but has faced obstacles caused by her condition. Family members said it has been especially difficult to find a playground where Brooks and her younger sister, Ellie, can play together.

Thus, the concept of Brooks’ Playground was born.
