LARAMIE — Jay Sawvel received some bad news during the first bye week of the season.
The second-year University of Wyoming football coach confirmed starting left tackle Nathan Geiger will miss the rest of the season with a left knee injury suffered in a road loss to Colorado two weeks ago.
Geiger, a sophomore, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee just 11 plays into last season.
“He’ll have surgery on Oct. 6, so, he’ll be out the rest of the year,” Sawvel said during Monday’s news conference. “... It’s unfortunate for Nate, because he worked so hard to get back, and he was playing pretty well. Basically, the graft to the previous surgery tore, so he’ll have to have that repaired.”
Jake Davies will start at left tackle in Geiger’s place, but Sawvel is also tossing around
