Lack of disposal space hampers dredging of toxic sediment in Detroit, Rouge rivers

An estimated 5 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment sit at the bottom of the Detroit and Rouge rivers, slowly seeping pollution into the ecosystem and the fish people snag from the treasured Metro Detroit waterways.

Federal and state environmental agencies, nonprofit groups and local communities are busy investigating the extent of the contamination and cobbling together funding to remove it.
