SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - This year marks a big milestone for Avera.

The health ministry is celebrating 25 years since both the Presentation Sisters and Benedictine Sisters brought their health systems together to benefit all the people they serve.

In this Avera Medical Minute, we take a look at how this co-sponsorship model was formed and how the system continues to carry out its mission.

Amy Boyd knows these halls at Avera McKennan like the back of her hand. In fact, she’s been walking them for 25 years.

She started as a nurse for the health system in 2000.

“It was so nerve-wracking, starting out as a new grad, my first adult job,” said nurse manager of the ICU, Amy Boyd.
