LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Residents in the Russell neighborhood are calling for an end to violence after a deadly shooting at a local gas station over the weekend.

Police say they were called near the 2100 block of West Market Street on Sunday around 7:15 p.m. Police say they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

“I heard two really loud pops like it was right outside my gate,” said neighbor Denise Hart. “And then they started coming in faster succession, so much so that I actually hit the ground on the porch and crawled through my front door.”

Residents say the violence has left them on edge and worried about daily life.
