Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair would help run Gaza as part of an international board under a peace agreement proposed by US President Donald Trump.
Blair was the first-named member of a "Board of Peace", chaired by Trump, which would temporarily oversee Gaza's governance, if Hamas accepts the proposal.
Trump said "leaders from other countries" on the board will be named later.
Blair has welcomed the Trump peace plan, announced from the White House as the US president hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The former British leader described the blueprint as "bold and imaginative".
Blair said the plans were "the best chance of ending two years of war, misery and suffering".
