Run line/Against the spread
Bello is making his postseason debut and is doing so off a rough September. The Boston righty did pitch a nice game at Yankee Stadium in August (7 shutout innings on 3 hits on Aug. 22), but New York got to him for 4 runs in a subsequent 5-frame outing at Fenway Park (Sept. 13). Bello's control has slipped over recent starts, and its easy to see this turn -- against a Yankees club that filed a high-walk, big-power .861 OPS over its final home stand of the regular season -- being a troubled one.
The Yankees just need regular-season Rodon (2.43 ERA, 0.93 WHIP since Aug. 12) and not postseason Rodon. The former has given the Yanks 6-plus innings in 7 of his last 8 starts; the latter has gone 6-plus just once in 5 career starts. A .377 batting average on balls in play has been a big part of the lefty's high October ERA.
The Red Sox may not be a good matchup for this New York team. But this particular game, with the price being right on the money line -- has value in taking the home side. BET THE YANKEES -1.5 (+135).
Over/Under
The total has gone Over in 6 of New York's last 8 games when playing at home against Boston.
A cool evening with a pitcher's breeze is in the weather forecast, plenty of questions are in the forecast on the mound. A day of wear in both bullpens plays into those pitching concerns. And these are a pair of top-third clubs offensively.
BET THE OVER 7.5 (+105).
