A woman who stabbed a man to death on a street in the New South Wales Hunter Valley has been found not guilty of manslaughter.
Jason Adams, 27, was found dead with wound to his chest on Payton Street in Raymond Terrace in the early hours of February 29, 2020.
Lily Ridgeway, 27, faced a manslaughter charge during a Supreme Court trial that began last week in Newcastle.
The trial heard there was no dispute that Ms Ridgeway was holding the knife when Mr Adams was stabbed and that she was acting in self-defence.
The jury heard Ms Ridgeway was staying at the home of a friend, Nikita Hanson, in the hours before Mr Adams was stabbed.
Defence barrister Talitha Hennessy told the court Ms Hanson was in a deteriorating relationship with Mr Adams and wanted him out of the house.
