COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

A woman says she’s lucky to be alive after being run over by a horse trailer during Northwest High School’s homecoming parade Friday night.

Jayde Hankerson, 26, had been filming the parade on her phone just moments before the accident. Colerain Township police say she ran out to grab candy when she suffered a seizure and collapsed. That’s when a horse trailer rolled over her hip. Advertisement

“I blacked out,” Hankerson told WLWT. “The next thing I know, I woke up in a hospital bed.”

Hankerson fractured her pelvis and had surgery to insert two screws. Doctors told her it’s a miracle she survived.

“The nurses and doctors are amazed at how she’s been able to handle this,” said her mom, Sheri Pope. “But, she’s always faced adversity,”
