Gurugram: After a long wait, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Monday appointed former state minister Rao Narender Singh as president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the Haryana Assembly with immediate effect.

Being the leader of the single largest opposition party in the assembly, Hooda will once again assume the role of Leader of the Opposition, a role he had from 2019 to 2024.

The appointments were announced in a press statement issued by Congress general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal. “Hon’ble Congress president has appointed Shri Rao Narender Singh as the president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect,” it read. Show Full
