Bubba Wallace was so close to winning the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Kansas Speedway, but fate wasn't on his side. On Sunday, Wallace took the white flag as the leader, but crossed the start-finish line in fifth place. Denny Hamlin drove deep into Turn 3 inside the No. 23 car, pushing both drivers up the race track.

It was a massive development in the Round of 12, as Wallace went from locked in the Round of 8 to a 26-point deficit to the playoff cut-line. Ultimately, it might have cost Walalce a shot at winning his first career Cup Series championship at Phoenix Raceway in November.
