HOUGHTON — There is a reason that the Menominee Maroons (5-0) are undefeated on the gridiron this season. That reason was on full display at Alumni Field on Friday in Houghton. They scored early and often. They led 17-0 less than two minutes after the opening kickoff and went on to defeat the Houghton Gremlins, 56-12.

“We had a lot of energy and executed well,” said Maroons coach Chad Brandt. “These guys enjoy playing football together, and that makes my job easier.”

In their opening possession, the Maroons wasted no time in scoring. A 21-yard pass from Tanner Theuerkauf to Dawson Bardowski resulted in six points. A Clayton Miller extra-point made it 7-0. Less than 15 seconds later, it was 9-0 after the Maroons capitalized on a safety.
