Various food recalls impacting Mesa County have been issued over the last week, ranging from ready-to-eat pasta to baby food.
Perhaps the most notable was a recall of about 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage-on-a-stick products.
The Hillshire Brands items, packaged between March 17 and Sept. 26, have resulted in at least five injuries due to wood splinters in the foods’ breading. A U.S. Department of Agriculture press release added that the products were sold in stores and to school districts.
Consumers are advised to check their freezers for any of the impacted items, which are labeled with the establishment numbers “EST-582” and “P-894.” The numbers should be listed on the packaging, next to the expiration date.
