New Delhi: YouTube has agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by US President Donald Trump and other plaintiffs over the suspension of his account following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. The case, which has stretched for more than four years, ends with a deal that sends most of the money into a trust linked to Trump.
At the time, YouTube had said Trump’s video violated its rules on inciting violence. Now, after years of legal back and forth, his account is back online and the companies involved are choosing to settle rather than keep fighting in court.
