The Boston Red Sox have made it to the AL Wild Card race after a long battle towards the end of the regular season. The club will face its biggest rival, the New York Yankees. However, starting pitcher Lucas Giolito will be out of the Wild Card series.
Giolito will miss the series due to an elbow issue. Boston had plans on starting Giolito for Game 3, but will need to turn to another pitcher instead. For now, manager Alex Cora has decided to go with Garret Crochet in Game 1 and Brayan Bello in Game 2. Cora has yet to announce their starting pitcher for Game 3, if they have one.
Game 1 of the Wild Card series will take place in the Bronx. The Yankees will hold their home-field advantage throughout this series since they finished the regular season with a better record than the Red Sox.
