October’s festive surge prompts multiple bank closures across India

October 2025 is set to be one of the busiest festive months of the year, with major celebrations such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja lined up. Consequently, banks across the country will remain closed on several days this week to observe these occasions.

Banks in will be closed on for Maha Saptami/Durga Puja. The following day, , banks in will observe Maha Ashtami (Durga Ashtami/Durga Puja).

will see a wider closure, with banks in remaining shut for Dussehra, Ayudha Puja (Maha Navami/Vijayadashami), and Durga Puja (Dasain).

Additionally, marks a for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, with some states also observing local festivities such as Janmotsav of Sri Sri Sankardeva, Dasain, and Vijay Dashmi.
