A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing his doctor in the neck at a clinic in Sydney’s CBD last week.

Police will allege Wen Liang Zhang, 57, stabbed a general practitioner in the neck with a knife while he was being treated at the clinic on Pitt Street.

Emergency services were called to the clinic last Friday at about 7pm, where they found an 85-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck.

Paramedics treated the doctor for serious injuries at the scene before transporting him to hospital in a stable condition.

Zhang was arrested at the scene and taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The offence, if proven, carries a maximum penalty of 25 years’ imprisonment.
