Country Roads is taking KJ Gillespie “home.”
The Mooresville High School edge rusher announced on social media Monday that he has committed to West Virginia and Rich Rodriguez’s Mountaineers.
“I’M HOME” he wrote on X.
Gillespie flipped to the Mountaineers after reopening his recruitment earlier this month.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior decommitted from Virginia Tech in mid-September after the Hokies fired head coach Brent Pry following a 45-26 home loss Sept. 13 to Old Dominion that dropped the Hokies to 0-3 on the season. Under Pry, they were 16-24 in four seasons.
As a junior, Gillespie recorded 25 tackles for loss. An all-conference and all-county selection, Gillespie also finished the season with eight sacks, 10 hurries and 10 batted passes.
