Baseball‘s most famous rivalry picks up in the postseason as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox face off in the best-of-three American League wild card series beginning Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
It’s only the sixth time the teams have met in the playoffs with the first showdown coming in 1999. The Red Sox have won the last three postseason series against the Yankees, most recently in 2021. The Red Sox took the season series 9-4, winning eight consecutive games against the Yankees from June into August.
