Breaking: Setback to SAD as Senior leader to join Congress

Chandigarh, September 30, 2025: Former minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Anil Joshi is set to officially join the Congress party tomorrow. Joshi, who resigned from the Akali Dal a few months ago, confirmed the development during an interaction with the media.

Speaking about his decision, Joshi said that he had previously met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal in Delhi, where they discussed political matters and also inquired about his family’s well-being. “It was during that meeting that I decided to join Congress. I had already bid farewell to Akali Dal six months ago,” he said.
