Ballari: Assistant Sub-inspector of APMC Police Station Shrinivas Rao (52), reportedly died of heart attack while on duty at the district-level Janaspandana programme here on Monday.

Rao was a part of the police team providing protection to District In-charge Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan who chaired the Janaspandana programme in Ballari on Monday. The officer is learned to have suddenly collapsed as the event was going on.

He was taken to the Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) Hospital immediately, but could not be saved as he did not respond to the treatment.

The doctors confirmed that Rao died due to heart attack and attributed it to low blood pressure.
