**Tragic Fall Claims Life of Contractor at Play Centre**
A contractor has died following a fall through a skylight at a children's play centre in Suffolk. David Linyard, who was performing maintenance work at Play2Day in Martlesham, suffered serious injuries in the incident that occurred in June. He later succumbed to his injuries at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
The play centre was closed to children during the maintenance work. A spokeswoman for Play2Day expressed condolences, stating, "We were informed by the family of Mr David Linyard that he had tragically died of injuries sustained in an accident whilst carrying out routine maintenance on the roof of our Play2Day children's play centre at Martlesham Heath, Ipswich. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with his friends and family."
Suffolk Police confirmed that Linyard died in hospital some time after the fall. A police spokesman stated, “The man involved sadly died in hospital at a later date. The coroner was notified and the joint investigation involving Suffolk Police, East Suffolk Council and the Health & Safety Executive continues.”
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with contributions from the Health and Safety Executive and East Suffolk District Council. The investigation aims to determine the factors that led to this tragic accident.
