PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — For the first time since 2021 the Boston Red Sox will play October baseball.

The Red Sox earned the 5th seed in the American League and a trip to the Bronx to face the Yankees in the Wild Card round.

The Sox and Yankees will play a best of three series with all the games at Yankee Stadium.

The winner advances to face the AL East Division-winning Toronto Blue Jays in the Division Series.
