John Bolton, a former national security adviser in President Donald Trump's first term, said Monday that he doesn't think Hamas or Iran will sign on to Trump's proposal to end the war in Gaza.

Bolton spoke during an hour-long question-and-answer session as part of the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics in Cambridge.

Bolton served for 17 months as national security adviser during Trump’s first term, clashing with him over Iran, Afghanistan and North Korea before getting ousted in 2019.

He has subsequently criticized Trump’s approach to foreign policy and government, including in a 2020 book, “The Room Where it Happened,” that portrayed the president as ill-informed on foreign policy.
