Sections of I-26 in Henderson and Buncombe counties are scheduled to be closed overnight this week for construction work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the morning of Oct. 3.

Westbound I-26, will be closed overnight Sept. 29 and 30 from Exit 49B, outside Hendersonville, north to Exit 44, according to a Sept. 29 Henderson County Sheriff’s Office news release. Detour via U.S. 25.

Eastbound I-26 will be closed from Exit 37, at Long Shoals Road, to Exit 40, at Airport Road, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. Detour via U.S. 25 and NC 280.

The closures may be adjusted based on weather and start times may vary depending on traffic conditions.

“Please plan ahead, use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the area,” the sheriff's office said.
